Remembering & Contacting Former Faculty Members
Sister M. Felice Hickey, I.H.M., of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday (3/1/12) at Our Lady of Peace Residence, Scranton.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1917, in Scranton and given the name Romayne. She was the daughter of the late Richard Henry and Anna Flanagan Hickey. She entered the IHM congregation on Sept. 8, 1935, and made her temporary profession of vows on May 2, 1938, and her final profession of vows on Aug. 2, 1941.
Sister Felice served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Rose Elementary School, Carbondale, from 1938 to 1944; St. Ephrem Elementary School, Brooklyn, N.Y., from 1944 to 1952; South Scranton Catholic High School, Scranton, from 1952 to 1956; Altoona Catholic High School, Altoona, from 1956 to 1958; and at St. Mary High School, Manhasset, N.Y., from 1958 to 1964.
Sister served as a faculty member in the psychology department at Marywood College and as chair of that department from 1966 to 1986. She also served as the advisement coordinator at Marywood College from 1986 to 1992. Sister Felice also served as a counselor for IHM Consultation Services from 1992 to 1998. From 1998, until the time of her death, Sister Felice was a prayer minister at the IHM Center, Marian Convent, and Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in social sciences from Marywood College, and both a Master of Arts degree in psychology/guidance, and a Doctor of Education in counselor education from St. John's University.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, the Rev. Joseph J., Richard, and Eugene; sister, Mary Hickey Moran.
Surviving are a sister, Anne Hickey Gavigan, Scranton; sister-in-law, Catherine Hickey, Scranton; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be Wednesday (3/8/12) at 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Residence, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton. Friends may call at Our Lady of Peace Residence on Tuesday, 3 to 6 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 4. Interment will follow. Mass will be on Wednesday at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow. Memorial contributions may be made to support the Retired IHM Sisters c/o the IHM Sisters Retirement Fund, IHM Center, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.

Brother Victor Serna died at the age of 87 on November 28th. Brother Victor was a member of the St. Mary's faculty from 1964-2004.
